My first thought after seeing Kid Ink confirmed my suspicions that rappers are getting addicted to tattoos. Lil Wayne already resembles a lizard covered in sharpie and Birdman looks a fucking potato after a kid colored him in crayons but...Kid Ink looks mildly unhealthy. But that's neither here nor there. Seemingly Chris Brown's newest pal has made a noticeable in mainstream music with his hit Show Me. That...did not impress me one bit and in fact I even got a bit of heartburn when I first heard it. However I stay open minded to new artists and I do enjoy a lot of new school rappers such as Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, Logic, J. Cole and quite a few others that have impressed me so I decided to check out his debut album.
First of all ya'll ain't on this shit that i'm on. Eyes look like I was made in Taiwan(...?)
Sporting some solid artists as guest appearances, those being Pusha T, Wale (Deluxe), and King Los'. And I enjoyed having those people here...but the main issue with this album is it's name and direction. Kid Ink is NOT, in his own lane. In fact him and Tyga (who's also on the album) share the same lane as the overly tattooed disciples of Chris Brown albeit the singing. Nothing in this album is anything different than what's already out there, so Ink being in his own lane is already laughable. But, does the album remain solid despite that? No. Not really. The beats are nothing to care about, just generic club sounds. Even when a artist I do like, such as Pusha T comes in the track sounds exactly the same if not more irritating than the last few.
Gettin' to the dough like Pillsbury..
King Los' does save this album for a solid eh, minute and a half and back to Kid Ink. There's about five to six bonus tracks on the deluxe but don't even bother. There's no reason to spend any money on this let alone extra. I wouldn't mind an album that essentially for the club or just driving but this doesn't even sound remotely pleasant enough to be that or even enough to move you. Shout to DJ Mustard for stopping by and dropping some mediocrity on this baby.
The Highlights:
No Option feat. King Los'
Sunset
The Lowlight:
Show Me feat. Chris Brown
Iz U Down feat. Tyga
We Just Came to Party
The Gem:
Murda feat. Pusha T (only because of Pusha)
Is It Worth a Purchase?
I don't know who I could recomend this to. Chris Brown fans? I guess. Tyga fans? They exist? Just steer clear of this, I don't expect to see Kid Ink beyond his big hit this year.
Overall Grade: D

I can only imagine what I'd need to smoke to enjoy this album. After that disappointment I think i should break down a real West coast artist...Until next time, One Love.
